City Wants Alpharetta Residents to 'Come Alive' on TV

11Alive will have a crew in downtown Alpharetta on Friday, May 24.

School should be over and the weather ought to be nice, so head on out to downtown Alpharetta next Friday, May 24, as the city plays host to the 11Alive morning show.

The NBC affiliate in Atlanta will broadcast live from 5-7 a.m. from Old Roswell Street.

“We want to show Metro Atlanta the energy that Alpharetta has,” said Assistant City Administrator James Drinkard.

You can even get breakfast and a little bit of entertainment that morning on your way to work.

“Recognizing that folks may need a little encouragement early in the morning, we will have entertainment on hand from Music Matters and a couple of the most popular food trucks from our weekly Food Truck Alley will be serving breakfast menus.  Our Downtown merchants will also be getting in on the act, so this will really be a fun event.”

The City of Alpharetta is inviting residents and organizations to be a part of the broadcast and is creating a fun environment to encourage a big turnout. You're encouraged to be there by 4:30 a.m. and to bring homemade signs and a lot of energy.

“Think about the crowds that you see behind Al Roker when he is on the sidewalk during the Today Show,” Drinkard said.  “We want to have that kind of crowd, that kind of energy, to show what our residents are really like.”

The broadcast will be done from the City parking lot on Old Roswell Street behind Smokejack and Sis and Moon. Parking will be available at the Roswell Street parking lot located across from La Casa Restaurant (35 Old Roswell Street).
