Buy Books at Crabapple Fest to Help Friends of Milton Library

Friends of the Milton Library will hold a book sale during Crabapple Fest on Saturday Oct. 5. Proceeds help the group support the planned library in Crabapple.

The Friends of the Milton Library will hold a second book sale during the popular Crabapple Fest.

The sale will take place at Crabapple Family Dentistry, located at 12685 Crabapple Road.

Crabapple Fest will kick off at 10 a.m. Saturday Oct. 5 along Crabapple and Broadwell roads.

The organization notes more than 5,000 books have been collected to be sold, which will support the new library slated to be built at the corner of Mayfield Road and Charlotte Drive in Crabapple.

"Our first book sale was an outstanding success," said Friends of the Milton Library President Matt Kunz, adding the organization has raised more than $2,000 to help the library before and after construction.

The group is still in need of used books, CDs and video tapes in good condition.

The organization has several drop-off locations for books:

  • Milton City Hall, 13000 Deerfield Parkway Suite 107; (678) 252-2400
  • Milton Fire Station #43, 750 Hickory Flat Road; (770) 777-6952
  • Shannondale Farm, 2395 Birmingham Road; (770) 569-9555
  • Urban Farmhouse, 12680 Crabapple Road; (770) 410-1112
Construction of the Milton library will begin in later this year and the library is set to open in late 2014.

The proposed 25,000-square-foot facility will have a collection of over 100,000 materials including books, DVDs, CDs and audiobooks.

Volunteers are also needed to help with future book sales and other projects. For more information, call Kunz at (404) 386-0354.
