Boy Scout Troop Wants Your Old Computers, Cell Phones

Boy Scout Troop 3000 next week will hold an electronics recycling and document shredding day at Birmingham United Methodist Church.

Boy Scout Troop 3000 is giving Milton residents the opportunity to recycle unused items around the house and get rid of old precious documents in a safe and secure manner.

The troop on Saturday Sept. 28 will hold its Community Recycling and Shredding Day at Birmingham United Methodist Church between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the church.

The event is being organized in partnership with Milton Grows Green.

Items accepted at no charge are:
  • Computers
  • Keyboards
  • Monitors (non-CRT only or there will be a charge)
  • Appliances*
  • Outdoor grills
  • Lawn mowers*
  • Scrap metal
  • Cell phones
  • Reusable shoes

* notes all fluids must be drained before recycling

Items that will be accepted for a fee: 

  • $15 for televisions
  • $10 for CRT monitors
  • $5 per box for shredding

**Cash and Checks accepted, with proceeds benefitting Milton BSA Troop 3000**

  • Hazardous materials
  • Yard waste
  • Non-electronic or metal items
