Alpharetta Youth Hosts Childhood Obesity Sports Camp

Team Tiger gets help from Marcus Stroud in helping other kids battle obesity.

The Georgia Dome was filled with athletes Saturday afternoon, but it was for something more serious than a game. The Sack Childhood Obesity Sports and Wellness Camp had nearly 300 families learning how to achieve healthier lifestyles.

“Today's Sacking Obesity Camp was amazing and beyond my wildest dreams," said Tiger Greene, the 12-year-old founder of the nonprofit foundation Team Tiger.

The Alpharetta resident  and Alpharetta Youth Football Association player said, “I know today that Marcus and I and Coach Z helped almost 300 families start their journey to a healthier and more active lifestyle and I couldn't be more proud to have my foundation Team Tiger walk the walk with my motto, 'Yes We Can- Follow Me.'"

Greene said, “I can't wait to see the amazing kids at our next event (soon to be announced) right here in Alpharetta and see their progress."

Tiger's dad, Brian Greene, said he thought the essays he read from children wanting to join the camp were touching. They became real people on Saturday when he saw the ope and determination in their eyes.

“I thought the essays I read were touching until they became real people today and I saw the hope and determination in their eyes. That’s when I knew what my son had created and inspired was something very special indeed," the senior Greene said.

"When I saw Tiger and Marcus on the Georgia Dome field with an army of volunteers and college and NFL athletes, I realized that heroes come in all sizes and mine were standing in front of me and about 700 kids and parents at the Georgia Dome on an important day in all of our lives.”
