Alpharetta Rotarians Send Soldiers Care Packages

The service organization picked up its efforts after 9/11 and hasn't stopped since then.

Members of the Rotary Club of Alpharetta stepped up their involvement and commitment to soldiers after the events of 9/11, with military veterans within the club tapping their networks to find soldiers serving in combat zones. Using those networks the club has regularly sent care packages to our soldiers overseas.

The club has supported a wide variety of units including elements of the 4th Infantry Division, the GA 48th Brigade, the 25th Infantry Division, Marine and Air Force units and most recently elements of the 75th Ranger Regiment based at Fort Benning Georgia.

wide impact as the boxes are shared out among the 20-30 members of each unit.

Along with the care packages the club goes to the Atlanta USO every quarter. While at the USO the club volunteers give directions, assistance and a hot lunch to those members of the military that are passing through the airport.

Project leader Chris Weeber said, “ Supporting our military is a high commitment of our club.” Rotary club of Alpharetta President Dan Merkel added, “ Our soldiers give their all for us, it is our honor to be able to support them”.
