Alpharetta Police, Firefighters Serve Dinner to Help Raise Funds

The Alpharetta Public Safety Foundation held its sixth annual Red and Blue Cook for You fundraising dinner Tuesday night.

Local corporations, businesses and individuals have been supporting members of the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety for years, so Tuesday night was time for some of those firefighters and police officers to show their thanks by cooking them dinner.

The sixth annual Red and Blue Cook For You dinner was held again at Benihana's off Mansell Road, with the restaurant closed for this Alpharetta Public Safety Foundation fundraising event.

Before dinner began, those attending were able to make bids in a silent auction, with everything from deals from local restaurants, golf courses, photographers and other businesses to artwork and signed sports memorabilia.

Then the time arrived for dinner, and after everyone was seated the chefs for the evening, firefighters and police officers, were introduced. Each of the 20 tables had its own chef, plus a helper from the restaurant's regular staff.

When the evening was nearly over, winning raffle tickets for a Glock handgun and an $8,000 racing go-kart were pulled. That was followed by a live auction of items including an African safari.
