Alpharetta Cub Scouts Start Relief Effort for Adairsville Tornado Victims

The local Scouts will be collecting basic necessities at Alpharetta Presbyterian Church on Saturday.

A day hadn't passed before Cub Scout Pack 1429 in Alpharetta was making plans to help the victims of devastation from a tornado that hit the downtown Adairsville area in Bartow County. On Saturday the Scouts will be accepting donations of basic supplies from the community.

"As you all have probably heard, our friends and neighbors in the Adairsville area were struck by a devastating tornado on Wednesday. While our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the people impacted by the storm, we are working to very quickly organize another very simple way we can help," said Aaron Charlesworth, parent of a Scout, in a flyer sent out Thursday afternoon.

Cub Scout Pack 1429 will be setting up a collection site for items like those listed below on Saturday, Feb. 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. behind the Alpharetta Presbyterian Church (180 Academy Street).

"As these people begin the long process of recovering from the storm, we can all help by proving basic supplies that many of us have on hand every day," he said.
