Last time we looked in on this little guy, he (or she) was really, really ... little. Just a pile of feathers, it appeared.

Boy, has that changed.

The baby eagle was born in a nest in a tall pine tree near the Steven J. Cage Athletic in February, several months after the campus's bald eagle couple returned and began preparing to expand the family.

Berry College's website says the couple spent several months repairing and adding to the nest and catching fish and coots in the nearby Berry quarry, Oostanaula River and Garden Lakes.

An egg was produced on January 14, according to the website, followed by a second egg on January 17. An eaglet chick hatched on Saturday, February 22, from one of the two eggs laid in January. But the other egg is not viable and is still in the nest.

The college says this is the only live, streaming video camera of a bald eagle nest in Georgia.

I have a lot of time invested in this bird. I dread the day that I sign in and he will be gone.

He found his wings!!! If I could soar like that, I'd be back only for dinner :)
