Youth Triathlon Team has Stellar end to a Fantastic season

Seventy-two children from Multisport Explosion, a local youth triathlon team, competed in the Ironkids youth triathlon at Wills Park on September 16th.  The team, coached by Lisa Marshall of Alpharetta, trains together several days a week from March thru September and is made up of athletes ranging from 6-15 years old.

Multisport Explosion’s team showed up ready to race last Sunday.  Out of 72 participants from the team, 36 finished in the top 10 in their respective age groups thus qualifying for Ironkids National Championships to be held in Iowa late next summer.  Of the 36 that qualified, 23 were in the top five in their age group.  In addition, four racers, Brittany Powell (15), Chloe Paskins (13), Colton Villa (12), and Sami Rickheim (11) came in first in their respective age groups.

There were many team members competing in their first triathlon and they enjoyed their experience which is what the passionate coaches of Multisport Explosion stress to their athletes.  The goal is for the kids to have fun swimming, biking and running to the best of their abilities.  The team members range from beginners to elite athletes.  The Ironkids event was the last event of the season for the team.  Multipsort Explosion will start a new session in March 2014. If you are interested in the team for next year check out the team website, www.teamexplosion.org.
