Mosaic to Manage Golf Club of Georgia

Alpharetta-based Mosaic Clubs & Resorts has been retained to manage The Golf Club of Georgia, an elite, private club featuring two award-winning golf courses and a membership consisting of some of Atlanta’s most notable golfers and citizens.

The Golf Club of Georgia also has been a vanguard of elite amateur and professional golf competition since opening in 1991. In fact, this week the club will host the 17th Annual Georgia Cup, an 18-hole match play championship between the reigning United States and British Amateur champions. Past champions include Matt Kuchar in 1998, Sergio Garcia in 1999 and Matteo Manassero in 2010.

The Golf Club of Georgia also has been the site of U.S. Open qualifying tournaments and the United States Collegiate Championship, a top-tier event in college golf won last year by the Oklahoma State Cowboys. The club also hosted the Nationwide Championship, an annual event on the Champions Tour from 1995-2000 and won by Hall-of-Famer Hale Irwin in its final two years.

The club’s two Arthur Hills-designed courses, Lakeside and Creekside, are distinctly different from each other, offering club members enormous architectural, aesthetic and strategic variety.

The Lakeside Course, a more traditional modern layout, was honored in 1991 by Golf Digest as “The Best New Private Course” in America. With a back nine playing around scenic Lake Windward, the Lakeside Course challenges the senses and the short game. In 1999, Golf Digest further honored Lakeside by naming its striking par-5 11th hole as one of “America’s Best 99 Golf Holes.”

Creekside, which opened in 1993, is a target-style, wetlands course reminiscent of the Carolina Low Country and requiring accurate shotmaking.

In addition to the two championship golf courses, The Golf Club of Georgia offers an inviting 52,000 sq. ft. clubhouse complete with three elegantly appointed conference suites, an open and airy dining room and main bar, golf shop, and men’s and women’s locker rooms. The golf shop is perennially named as one of Golf World Magazine's “Top 100 Golf Shops in America.”

“This club has a very special culture and brand, one known for a stable of excellent players, notable golf tournaments, and the high caliber of its members,” says Mosaic’s chairman, Whitney Crouse. “We are fully committed to honoring and improving upon this legacy.”
