Gas South donates $14,000 to United Way at halfway point of Atlanta Braves season

Gas South, the official natural gas provider of the Atlanta Braves, has donated $14,800 to the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta at the season’s midway point as part of the company’s “Bring the Heat” campaign.

Gas South pledged at the beginning of the 2013 season to give $25 to the United Way for every strikeout recorded by Braves pitchers. Through 81 games, the Braves have 516 strikeouts so far this season, corresponding to a $14,800 donation to the United Way.

“The ‘Bring the Heat’ campaign has helped make a difference in the lives of local families,” said Gas South Vice President Meredith Hodges. “We are thrilled to once again partner with the Braves and give back to the communities we serve.”

Since the program’s inception, Gas South has contributed more than $200,000 to the United Way and other nonprofit organizations.

“There is nothing better than seeing fireworks shoot up from the Gas South sign in right field after a strikeout and knowing that another contribution has been made to the United Way to help families in need,” said Derek Schiller, Braves’ executive vice president of sales and marketing.
