Griffith and Kim appointed as pastors at Alpharetta Methodist

Alpharetta First United Methodist Church recently welcomed two new associate pastors to the church staff. Rev. Deborah Griffith and Rev. Millie Kim were appointed to Alpharetta Methodist by Bishop Mike Watson of the North Georgia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. They join
Dr. Don Martin, senior pastor, on the ministerial staff.

Griffith comes to Alpharetta Methodist from Bethelview UMC in Cumming, where she served as senior minister. Kim most recently served as senior pastor at Bascomb UMC in Woodstock.

Griffith is a graduate of Marietta High School. She earned a Pre-Pharmacy Degree from Kennesaw State University; a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Mercer University; and her Master of Divinity degree from Candler School of Theology. She was a teacher in Cobb County for four years before answering the call to ministry in 1996. She was ordained a deacon in the United Methodist Church in 2000 and an elder in 2002.

Griffith’s previous appointments include Armurchee UMC in Rome and Pleasant Valley UMC in Monroe. She is a former member of Rome Urban Ministries and has served on the board of World Methodist Evangelism. She currently serves on the UMC’s Atlanta-Roswell District Finance Committee.

Kim is a graduate of Wheeler High School in Marietta. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Emory College and her Master of Divinity Degree from Candler School of Theology. She was commissioned as an elder in 2000 and received into the full membership of Elders in the North Georgia Annual Conference in 2003.

Kim’s previous appointments include Glenn Memorial UMC in Atlanta as associate pastor with youth and Leland UMC in Mableton as pastor in charge. She founded Gerelt UMC in Mongolia while serving as a missionary for the UMC’s General Board of Global Ministries from 2004-2007.
