 t  to his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton face
 s  ridicule\, danger\, kidnapping and a trial\, the intrepid Gertrude Mc
 Fuzz  never loses faith in him\, the only one who recognizes "his kind a
 nd his  powerful heart."\nUltimately\, the powers of friendship\,  loyal
 ty\, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant\, in a  s
