Author, columnist and humorist Carole Townsend will be holding a book signing for her second book, “Red Lipstick and Clean Underwear,” on Nov. 17 at Books For Less in Alpharetta from noon–3 pm.

The book, which is anchored in dozens of face-to-face interviews between Townsend and women from across the United States, takes an openly honest, bluntly humorous and cuttingly poignant look at the advice women were handed as young women from their mothers, grandmother, aunts and family friends.

Does the advice even apply in the lives of real women in a very different world than our mothers understood? The answers are found in the pages of the book, along with some questions and ideas for readers to mull about the complicated life of a woman.

“Red Lipstick and Clean Underwear” is already being lauded as a great book club find, opening up “honest and fun” discussions about “women, where we’ve been, where we are now and where we’re headed," according to a news release.
