Tell us what you think about the candidates left in the Republican Presidential bid race?
With the campaign suspension announcement of Georgia's own Newt Gingrich on Wednesday afternoon, the field of Republican candidates is narrowed significantly. Gingrich, backed by some of Roswell's own elected officials, posted a web video addressing his decision on Tuesday and made his official announcement on Wednesday, according to reports by The Huffington Post. Though the race began slowly during 2011 packed with hopefuls, including Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain, now just Mitt Romney and Ron Paul remain as official Republican candidates for the party's nomination. According to delegate counts on Real Clear Politics, Romney's delegate count is 865, in comparison to Paul's 93. So we want to know, how do you …

The announcement came Tuesday, April 10.
The New York Times is reporting that Rick Santorum has suspended his bid for the Republican presidential nomination. The news came Tuesday, after Santorum's three-year-old daughter was hospitalized with pneumonia. He did not specify why he was ending his presidential bid, though many suspect it's the probability of Mitt Romney’s nomination, according to the Times. How do you feel about the news of the race suspension? Do you feel shortchanged?

The Georgia Senate approved a charter school resolution with a 40-18 vote, putting the Constitutional amendment on the November ballot for a vote by Georgia residents. The Senate leadership said HR 1162 reasserts the state’s role in public education that was stripped by the Georgia Supreme Court in May 2011. This invalidated the General Assembly’s creation of an alternative authorizer for charter schools. HR 1162 defines a state charter school in the Georgia Constitution: “This resolution is about doing what is right for students, families, and communities throughout Georgia,” said Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers, R-Woodstock. “Years from now, we will look back at the hurdles we have overcome in order to advance education reform in …

Newt Gingrich cruised to winning Georgia's Republican presidential primary Tuesday, his one bright spot on a night he finished only as high as third in other Super Tuesday voting. Georgia was among 10 states selecting delegates Tuesday. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney won in Virginia, Vermont, Massachusetts, Idaho and Alaska. CNN and other networks projected a Romney victory in a tight race in Ohio. Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum won in Tennessee, Oklahoma and North Dakota. With 99 percent of Georgia's precincts reporting, Gingrich, the former U.S. House speaker, was leading with 47.2 percent of the vote, followed by Romney at 25.9 percent, Santorum at 19.6 percent and Texas Congressman Ron Paul at 6.6 percent. On the Sunday before Super Tuesday, Mitt Romney stopped at a Snellville, Ga., high school for a bit of campaigning and breakfast.
It's not every day that a presidential candidate stops by a Snellville, Ga., high school, and serves pancakes while he's there. But, that was Mitt Romney on the Sunday before a critically important Super Tuesday, when 76 Georgia delegates will be up for grabs. In a last-minute effort to secure a win, Romney's campaign announced Saturday that they were hosting a pancake brunch at Brookwood High School the following day. One campaign volunteer said about 1,500 people signed up. However, closer to 2,000 people showed up, according to the fire marshal, and some 500 people were forced to stand outside in the cold. No pancakes for them, but speakers were set up so they could hear what was going on inside. Romney, along with his wife, Ann, and …

Santorum hosts Rally at DeKalb-Peachtree Airport
DeKalb-Peachtree Airport was temporarily transformed into 'Santorum Country' as lawn stakes peppered the grassy islands at the entrance of the airport, cars adorned electronic Santorum signs, self-proclaimed Santorum "roadies" sold campaign buttons on the perimeter of the staging area, and about 50 home schooled children stood on stage behind the former Pennsylvania Congressman as he spoke to an audience of about 200 people in Brookhaven. Standing with a miniature version of the U.S. Constitution in his right hand and the mic in the other, Rick Santorum said that he was the only true conservative candidate that could mark a clear contrast between himself and President Obama in the November election. And while the political bickering fueled…
Gingrich said that if elected President he would draw on methods he used as House Speaker in the late-1990s to lead the country.
Hopeful Republican presidential nominee Newt Gingrich told his former constituents at Thursday’s Cobb Chamber of Commerce breakfast that if elected he’d attempt turn back the clock to his days as former House Speaker. “First let’s go back to 1998,” he said. “We need to control spending, reform government and balance the federal budget for a generation. This isn’t a theory. It’s what we did. So we know it’s doable. We in this room have been there. This was in our lifetime. Cobb County can take some credit for it because, candidly, if you hadn’t elected me it wouldn’t have happened. Clearly we were all in this together.” Gingrich served as Georgia’s Sixth Congressional Representative for 20 years, four of those as Speaker of the House. …
