The Invest in Our Vets event at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre wasn't quite washed out, but weather cut the number of attendees.
The Scott Rigsby Foundation already is planning next year's Invest in Our Vets hiring expo, despite wind wreaking havoc with Friday's inaugural event. The veterans hiring expo was held in conjunction with the Alliance Ride, a series of cycling and handycling events in support of Georgia Warriors, who are veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Storm. Unfortunately the weather system being brought in by those high winds on Friday afternoon also caused the postponement of all Saturday races in the Alliance Ride. But on Friday afternoon those businesses who set up tables at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre for Invest in Our Vets were pleased with the quality of the veterans seeking jobs. See the accompanying video to hear what…

The Tenet Hero is part of Tenet Healthcare Corporation’s recognition program for employees.
Local nurse, Micah Brown, has been named a Tenet Hero, according to a recent announcement by North Fulton Hospital. Brown, a breast health nurse navigator, has combined a generous and tirelessly compassionate nature during her decade long career in nursing. Her role begins the moment a woman finds out she has a breast problem or earlier, when she is just worried that she might. According to her managers, Brown is there with a compassion that goes beyond duty to answer questions, hold a hand during a biopsy and offer a comforting and consoling word to ease fears and anxiety. "It’s Micah the patients love because she puts them at ease and takes them by the hand, leading them through every step in the process," says Dr. Laura Rivers-Pearson…
