Windward Rotary Club Invites Golfers to Bear's Best

Foursomes will hit the links at in Suwanee on Thursday as the 2011 Rotary Club of Windward Charity Golf Tournament has its shotgun start.

The Alpharetta-based club, which meets on Mondays at noon at the , used the money raised in the tournament for charities including North Fulton Community Charities, The Drake House, Habitat for Humanit-North Central Georgia, the Ed Isakson Family YMCA, two elementary schools, a middle school, a high school and several others.

"It's the club's primary fundraiser. One hundred percent of all net revenue goes to support the various charities that we've listed," said John Bowers, the chairman of the Rotary Club's golf tournament committee.

"It's also a great opportunity for members of the club, friends of the club and friends of the charities that we support to get together and have a good time and enjoy each other's company," he said.

Registration and a breakfast sponsored by will be at 9 a.m. The shotgun start will be at 10 a.m. Lunch will be provided by .

Participation in the tournament includes golf, the driving range, breakfast, lunch and beverages.

Approximately 70 golfers had signed up before the weekend, and Bowers said there's room for more on the course this Thursday, Oct. 27.

The registration cost is $125 per individual, or $450 per foursome.
