Take a Look at Alpharetta and Milton from the Sky

An editor takes a flight over the area, returning with these aerial views of the community.

By August 2014, a lot of this property will be developed as Avalon, a mixed-use retail, office and residential development. The never completed parking garage structure on the left side will be torn down. This view is from above GA 400 looking mostly west, with Westside Parkway snaking around the northern side of the property, connecting with Old Milton Parkway which is on the left, or south side, of the property.

Satellite views of the neighborhood on MapQuest or Google Maps are great, but they aren't updated often enough to keep track of what's happening in our community. So when I was offered the chance to hop in a small Cessna single propeller airplane for an aerial tour, I grabbed my camera and headed out.

These photos are only a week old, so the views of the Avalon development and a few other locations are much closer to today's reality than many of those satellite images in the popular mapping programs.

I've added in a few photos from above Adairsville to show the tornado devastation, but visit the photo gallery on Cartersville Patch to see more.

I believe you have used Rucker Road when it should be Cogburn Road. Many of your photos have Rucker Road listed when it really should be Cogburn.
