NFCC Annual Community Breakfast Brings Tidings of Comfort and Joy
Several supporters and volunteers were honored at the special breakfast in November.
Hundreds of supporters, including representatives of the civic, faith, and business communities, attended North Fulton Community Charities’ Annual Community Breakfast on Nov. 14.
The event celebrates the generosity of those who provide their time, talent and treasure to support low-income North Fulton families in crisis. The breakfast provides information on upcoming holiday projects and fundraising events; as well as updates on the need in our community, and the impact of NFCC support on the 15,000 individuals who receive support to help them return to self-sufficiency.
The NFCC Annual Community Breakfast opened with a welcome from the Board President Guy Kriske. A recipient was the featured speaker who shared how she has benefited from the assistance provided by NFCC programs and services.
NFCC recognized the following special honorees:
- Faith Based Partner of the Year: St. Peter Chanel - The church has supported NFCC with volunteers, food, monthly financial support and a recent gift to the Special Assistance Fund for Chronic & Terminally Ill clients. The Men’s Club sponsored 150 families this year for the Holiday Program
- Civic Partner of the Year: Chattahoochee Nature Center - The Unity Garden at the Chattahoochee Nature Center was established in April 2010 with a generous grant from Kaiser Permanente. The quarter-acre demonstration garden grows fresh produce year around with all harvest delivered to the North Fulton Community Charities’ Food Pantry. To date, the garden has produced 17,000 pounds of produce for NFCC.
- Business Partner of the Year: Malon D. Mimms Company - Malon D. Mimms Company has partnered with NFCC for three years by providing a site for NFCC’s Holiday Program distribution site. This philanthropic company has helped many non profits through the metro Atlanta area and we are fortunate to partner with this amazing organization.
- Volunteer of the Year: Peggy Donoho - Peggy is a local volunteer who has supported the needs of our Thrift Shop for nearly two years. She noticed that the furniture donated needed a “little love” and decided to take on this task with paint brushes and tools to make minor repairs. Under her creative eye, items that were unusable are transformed and given new life.
