Milton Council Votes on Zoning Issues, Form-Based Code
A wrap-up of the Milton City Council meeting on June 18
On June 18, the Milton City Council voted on several measures, including a form-based code and two zoning issues.
The following is the voting record from the regularly scheduled meeting, as provided by the city of Milton.
- Request from Jenmark Company to rezone from Mixed Use to Community Business, in order to expand a 6,000-square-foot retail building to 12,000 square feet. The building is located at 633 North Main Street. The applicant also requested a concurrent variance to delete the 10-foot landscape strip along the south and east property lines. Approved 7-0.
- Request from Crescent Resources to rezone from Community Business and Office Institutional to Medium Density Apartments to develop a total of 256 residential units at an overall density of 12 units per acre. The applicant also requested a variance to encroach into the 25 foot non-impervious setback by no more than 5,000 square feet. The property is on Deerfield Parkway. The council deferred the matter until the Aug. 20 meeting with a vote of 5-2.
- To delete Article VII, Division 7 of Chapter 64 - Crabapple Crossroads of the Northwest Fulton Overlay and concurrently adopt a new Article XIX, Crabapple Form Based Code. Approved 6-1 with conditions.
- Approval of an ordinance to amend Chapter 42, Article III, of the Milton City Code to remove the requirement for precious metals dealers to obtain and maintain a license and indemnity bond. Approved 7-0.
Milton City Council meetings normally take place at City Hall, 13000 Deerfield Parkway, Suite 107, the first and third Mondays of the month, barring a holiday or special-called meeting. Work sessions are normally held the second Monday of the month.
