UPDATED: Price To Face A Democrat From Roswell or Alpharetta

Tom Price will face a Democratic challenger in the November General Election, though it appears he is unopposed in the July Republican Primary.

UPDATED May 25, 5:30 p.m.: Congressman Tom Price, a Republican from Roswell, is certain to face a Democratic challenger in the November General Election–but apparently he won't have an opponent in the Republican Primary July 31.

Price, the incumbent Sixth Congressional District U.S. Representative, filed for to keep his post on Wednesday, May 25. Robert Montigel, an Alpharetta small business owner, and Jeff Kazanow, a Roswell business consultant, qualified on Wednesday and Friday, respectively.

The filing deadline was at noon on Friday, May 25, so these may be the final qualifiers for U.S. Congress and the Georgia General Assembly.

A Democrat threw his hat into the ring for the state Senate District 56 seat, guaranteeing a challenge for the Republican nominee. With only the incumbent, John Albers, having qualified for the Republican primary, he appears headed for a general election battle with Akhtar Sadiq, a Democrat from Roswell.

Alpharetta and Milton now is represented by two state Senate and three state House seats, and voters get to pick who they want to fill those seats starting with the primary election on July 31.

All of the incumbents in House Districts 22, 47 and 49 have filed for reelection, as have the incumbents in Senate Districts 21 and 56.

Sen. Chip Rogers, R-Woodstock, has a challenger who qualified for the primary election. Brandon Beach was in Senate District 56, but the redistricting that brought Rogers' District 21 into North Fulton includes his home address.

Two years ago Beach made an unsuccessful run for the Senate District 56 seat in a three-way race between him, David Belle Isle and John Albers. The race was won by Albers, and since then Belle Isle pulled out a win against two others to become Alpharetta's mayor.

Rogers faces voters in Milton and Alpharetta for the first time with the new district boundaries, with Beach in the same situation in Cherokee County. Rogers has been seen all over this part of his district since even before the U.S. Justice Department approved the new district lines. Beach has had some visibility in Cherokee in his role as Georgia Department of Transportation board member for Congressional District 6.

Qualifying ends at noon on Friday, May 25. The following are candidates who have qualified for the Juy 31 primary as of late Thursday, May 24, according to the Georgia Secretary of State's office:
