Milton High advances in the state basketball playoffs with its win Wednesday night, Feb. 29, against the Shiloh Generals, 72-52.
Tevin Glass again had an outstanding game, leading all scorers with 25 points. Three other Eagles were in double figures as well. Shaquille Johnson and Charles Mann each had 14 points, with Jalyn Patterson putting in 10. Evan Nolte added 9 points to close out the scoring for Milton.
CJ Keyes and Robert Carter Jr. each had 10 points for the Generals. Trayvon Reed put in 9 points and Jordan Gaither had 8.
The Eagles came out in the second half ahead, 37-25, which might explain why they were a little flat in the third period. Milton only managed 13 points in that period, but the best Shiloh could do was match them with 13, missing an opportunity to shave some points off the Eagles' lead.
Milton seemed to own the offensive boards, except when an Eagle drove in to the basket with no teammates underneath. On the other end, the Generals scrambled for every rebound, but seemed tentative on going up for shots and tip ins. The physical play of the Eagles can take advantage of that kind of apparent weakness. Though a blocked shot by Shiloh showed they weren't that intimidated by the higher seed Eagles.
Milton will play North Gwinnett, which beat Wheeler 70-68 last night, at the University of West Georgia on Saturday.
Alpharetta, which beat Peachtree Ridge on Wednesday, faces Berkmar at Carrolton also. Berkmar beat Marietta 66-52 to make it to the next round against the Raiders.
