Local Church Donates SWAT Truck to City
The efforts of World Harvest Church will be used by North Fulton SWAT, a joint venture between Alpharetta, Milton and Roswell.
You probably aren't likely to associate the terms "church" and "SWAT;" but when World Harvest Church in Roswell heard the city had a need for a new SWAT vehicle, they acted.
Thanks to the generous donation of a local resident, the Roswell Police Department was the proud owner of an old bread truck, just begging to be transformed into something the department could really use.
But a conversion was costly and not part of the department's budget. So when word of the need spread, the World Harvest congregation raised nearly $22,000 to make it happen. And an expert in tactical equipment who attends the church went to work converting the old truck into an official SWAT vehicle - the first to become part of the "North Fulton SWAT," a joint venture between the cities of Roswell, Alpharetta and Milton.
This Sunday, July 1, the church will celebrate the heroes they believed were worth it.
As part of their presentation to the city, the church will host "Hero's Day," a free cook-out, which will include displays and demonstrations by the Roswell Police, Roswell Fire and the U.S. Military.
The church will hold two services on Sunday, July 1: an 8:45 a.m. service and an 11 a.m. service, which will unveil the truck at its conclusion.
World Harvest is located at 325 Hardscrabble Road. The special Hero's Day celebration cook-out and demonstrations following the second service will be free and open to the public.

Not that local law enforcement doesn't need or deserve such tools of the trade, but isn't this kind of like the Pharisees donating a catapult to the Romans? Just seems like there would be so many other even more worthy points of focus for activities that are "on message".

This is a wonderful gesture for all of our communities. Thanks to World Harvest Church and all of its donors who have seen a need in our communities and sought to meet it at great expense to their church. Thanks also to all of the men and women who will put this swat vehicle to use protecting all of our homes. This is a great example of the church in action and making a difference!
