Learn to Throw Pottery in Alpharetta
Artist teaches beginners and experienced students how to throw and finish pottery on the wheel.
Classes might not start until March, but you’d better sign up soon if you want to learn how to “throw” pottery.
Janis Wilson Hughes will teach Pottery on the Wheel at the Alpharetta Arts Center March 9-April 20, from 10 a.m.-noon. A second class will run from April 27-June 1.
Nancy Suttles, arts coordinator for the Cultural Arts Division of the city’s Recreation and Parks Department, said students will experience the fun of working with clay in a supportive and relaxing studio. Beginners will learn the basics of throwing and finishing pottery on the wheel. Experienced students will focus on strengthening skills. The instructor will provide demonstrations and hands-on instruction.
The end result will be high fired pieces with beautiful glazes for a finished piece of art, Suttles said.
Cost: $80 Alpharetta residents; $120 non-residents.
