Jeb Bush Attends CorMatrix Lab Opening in North Fulton

The private company develops "innovative biomaterial devices that harness the body's own innate ability to repair damaged heart tissue."

With local and national leaders looking on, medical device company CorMatrix Cardiovascular cut the ribbon on a new North Fulton facility Monday, April 29.

The company, which develops "innovative biomaterial devices that harness the body’s own innate ability to repair damaged heart tissue," recently opened larger corporate headquarters and lab facilities off Old Ellis Road in Roswell. The new facility was contracted by Milton Mayor Joe Lockwood.

Shareholders, including CorMatrix board member former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, attended the important ribbon cutting alongside local political leaders and the Roswell Business Alliance.

The company, which began during 2001, found itself outgrowing its offices, according to John Davis, CorMatrix executive vice president of sales and marketing.

"We were at an office park in Alpharetta and we simply outgrew our space," Davis said. "We wanted to own our own building and develop our own facility and that's what brought us here."

Davis said the company loved the business climate in Roswell and saw potential to distribute future products from their new facility, which currently houses corporate offices and a lab where testing and development occurs.

According to their website, the CorMatrix ECM technology - which is a naturally occurring extracellular matrix biomaterial that can support tissue repair and enable a patient's own cells to repair damaged tissues - is used at more than 720 hospitals throughout the country and has been implanted in nearly 70,000 cardiac procedures.
