Great Escape: Make Some Memories Last

Scrapbooking can provide a relaxing and fun atmosphere for moms.

Every week, Patch comes up with one idea of a way for moms to get away from the stresses of mommy-hood. All too often, we, as moms, put ourselves behind the kids, our spouses, the housework, jobs, and every other event and situation that comes our way. We know, however, that moms are better moms when we get a chance to refresh and relax some. This week, Patch invites you to take some time for scrapbooking.

As a new mom, I had grand expectations of making the kids baby books and keeping them updated and detailed and perfect. Now, I see the boxes and boxes of pictures and album making supplies that grow by the year as the albums fall further behind. Talking to other moms, I know I am not in the minority with this.

So, this week, Patch suggests that moms set aside some time to start on these projects again. Dig through pictures and start to organize them. Pull out the albums and start getting them caught up. You will be surprised at how relaxing it is to sit and do this. We all take pictures at happy times and this reflection is good for the soul.

The nice part about this week's great escape idea is that it is one that can be done alone or with girlfriends. Set it up at the dining room table and work on it as you have small breaks throughout the week away from the kids. Or, invite some friends over to do it together and hire a sitter while the kids play in the next room.

Scrapbooking can be relaxing a fun time spent with friends. Girlfriends can enjoy food and drinks while working in their albums. They can share memories, ideas and tools. It can provide a wonderful time for women to get together and laugh but still feel like they are being productive.

Whatever you decide to do this week, take some time for yourself. Everyone is happier when Mom is happy.
