Graduation Ceremonies Set for Fulton Seniors
Milton plans an outdoor ceremony at its football stadium, while Alpharetta will take the stage at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre.
Graduation ceremonies begin on Thursday afternoon for the more than 5,000 Fulton County seniors will celebrate Class of 2012 commencement ceremonies at venues throughout the county during May 17-20.
The weather forecast seems good so far for the outdoor ceremonies, with no rain in sight.
Independence High kicks things off with its 1 p.m., Thursday, May 17, ceremonies at the Milton Center Auditorium.
Milton High stays at home to hold its graduation at the Milton Stadium on Friday, May 18 at 8 p.m., and this year it will be streaming live in a webcast for out of town family and friends. The stadium will open at 5 p.m. and seating will be on a first-come basis at that time. There is no reserved seating or seat saving. Prior to opening the stadium, items used to save seats will be removed (blankets, stadium seats, etc.) The ceremony moves to 10 a.m. Saturday if the weather doesn't cooperate.
Alpharetta High goes to the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre on Saturday, May 19, at 9 a.m. The doors open at 8 a.m. Park in Lot A off Old Roswell Road and Founders Parkway.
Each senior will be given 12 tickets for guests at graduation rehearsal on Thursday. The students will be allowed to swap among themselves so that one’s unused tickets can be given to another in need.
King's Ridge Christian School holds its graduation ceremonies on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the school.
St. Francis High will hold its graduation ceremonies on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Alpharetta First United Methodist Church.
The only hiccup in ceremonies might be for those driving in Milton on Saturday with the closure of Cogburn Road to through traffic for a bridge replacement.
