Alpharetta detectives were called to a Webb Bridge Road townhome complex Aug. 3 to investigate the discovery of a fetus found in a vacant unit.

A cleaning crew arrived at the empty Wedgewood unit and discovered the fully developed fetus inside a shoebox in the unit's freezer, said George Gordon, spokesman for the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety. They reported it to Alpharetta police.

Agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation have joined local detectives and are processing the scene, Gordon said this evening.
