Original Story
The 18-year-old driver of a Ferrari that crashed off Webb Bridge Road on Oct. 19 has died, making it a fatality crash investigation.
"Sadly, the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety has been advised by the Fulton County medical examiner’s office that the driver of the Ferrari crash on October 19th has died of his injuries," said George Gordon, spokesman for the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety, in a release today.
Akshay Panducherry, age 18, of Alpharetta, was the driver of the car. His passenger, Harshavardhan Patlolla, age 21, also of Alpharetta, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital by Life Flight helicopter the same morning..
Panducherry's car was traveling eastbound on Webb Bridge Road at a high rate of speed at 3:48 a.m. when it left the roadway, narrowly missing the bridge at Big Creek, Gordon said last week. The Ferarri "missed the bridge abutment by just a few yards when they started to exit the roadway," he said.
The victims managed to crawl out of the burning car after the crash. Two Life Flight helicopters landed at Alpharetta High School's baseball field to pick them up. As they suffered significant burns, they were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital that morning.
Gordon reported that speed was a contributing factor in the crash, according to the preliminary investigation.

This is so very sad. I had been searching for any kind of update on both of the boys and then saw this on the news. Is there any news on the current condition Harshavardhan Patlolla?

This is very sad, but proves you shouldn't give a kid a sports car. They are too stupid to realize they cannot drive fast cars above the speed limit. I bet the driver's dad regrets giving his son "the car of his dreams".

There hasn't been a day since the accident that I haven't thought of these young men and the now the tragic loss to their families and the community. Hopefully Harshvardhan recovers and can use his story to save the lives of others.

Sorry say this but the parents brought this on themselves. These are the consequences of their decision to give a teenager a race car.

I do think some of the comments on the parents are cruel - I'm sure the parents have been blaming themselves since the moment of the accident. However, this is a lesson for affluent parents: STOP giving immature kids - by that I mean anyone under 25 or so - expensive sports cars. I've seen this several times in the past few years - 16 yr olds given BMWs, Corvettes, etc. Sadly, there are 30 year olds too immature for a powerful car, but to give one to a teenage or college-age boy is just a lethal mixture. They're just not mature enough to handle that much power under the hood. Spoil your kids some other way please - these stories are so tragic.
