Bank Lets Milton Resident Know IRS Refund Check Was Stolen

The following information was supplied by the Milton police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A Milton resident learned from that an IRS refund check had been stolen from his mailbox sometime between Oct. 7 and Nov. 7.

The victim contacted Milton police to notify them of the theft after being notified by a Chase Bank representatitve who called and said that someone had attempted to deposit the check into an unknown account.

The representative said that a police report needed to be filed to receive any additional information.

After filing a report, the victim was advised to also notify the mail carrier USPS.

Dog Scares Off Possible Burglar

A homeowner speculates his dog scared away someone attemtping to break into his Old Cogburn Road home.

A Milton police officer responded to a call on Old Cogburn Road on Nov. 4, around 11 p.m. The victim directed the officer to damage found in the sun room of the home. The officer saw that the door jam had been damaged and the trim and drywall around the door was also damaged.

It had appeared that the exterior of the door had been kicked in. No shoe prints were seen upon closer inspection.

The victim did not notice any items missing from the home, and speculated that whomever caused the damage was scared off by their dog.

The damage was estimated to be about $300 and the victim was given a case card and was told to reference the case number if more damage was noticed or missing items became apparent.

A Game Console Goes Missing

A Genesis Way resident reported a burglary to Milton police at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 9.

The victim reported that while out running errands between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m., someone entered the home and stole a Sony PlayStation 3 valued at $300.

The victim said that the garage door was left unlocked and that the window leading from the exterior to the garage of the home was found unlocked and the blinds looked disturbed.

Upon inspection, no force to the window or door was found. A print, however, was located and recovered. A copy of the print was placed into evidence.
