UPDATED: Alpharetta Officer's Patrol Car Struck by Suspected Drunk Driver

Local officer taken to North Fulton Hospital for treatment before being released.

 

UPDATED 3 P.M.: A veteran Alpharetta police officer was injured when his patrol car was struck from behind at an intersection at 10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, by a driver later charged with DUI.

Officer Keith Nurse was sitting at the intersection of Westside Parkwayand Hembree Road, waiting for the signal to change from red to green. While he sat there, another vehicle rear ended his car.

Henry Wilson, 53, of Alpharetta, was charged with DUI after the accident.

George Gordon, spokesman for the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety, said Wilson was charged with DUI and failure to maintain lane. He was transported to jail. The patrol vehicle was towed to Alpharetta public safety headquarters.

 Officer Nurse was transported by ambulance to North Fulton Hospital for evaluation. He was evaluated and released.
