The Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau has collaborated with the Young Survival Coalition (YSC) as a sponsor for Tour de Pink. The action-packed day will begin and end at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 starting at 7:30 a.m.
As Atlanta’s only bike ride for breast cancer, Tour De Pink will allow participants to ride from 1 to 100 miles from short family rides and a survivor loop to professionally designed routes intended for advanced cyclists. For those who would like to participate but do not bike, there will be a 5K Course for walkers and runners.
YSC works with survivors, caregivers and the medical, research, advocacy and legislative communities to increase the quality and quantity of life for women diagnosed with breast cancer ages 40 and under. The 2011 Tour de Pink saw 1,000 participants and raised almost $300,000 for YSC Atlanta. This year promises to be bigger and better with an expo area showcasing local services, vendors, food, entertainment and family fun. A MINI Cooper will be raffled with each $50 donation equaling one chance to win the car. The winner does not have to be present to win.
“We are proud and excited to host Tour de Pink for the 2nd year in a row and welcome bikers, runners, walkers and spectators to join in on an event that instills hope in women, says Janet Rodgers, President and CEO of the Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Come support this great cause and plan to stay and explore our city while staying in an Alpharetta hotel.”
