Rotary Club of Alpharetta Continues to do Good Deeds for the Community
The members of Alpharetta’s Rotary Club have been remained very busy with recent community projects. Alpharetta Rotarians along with their Interact Clubs of Milton, Cambridge and Independence High Schools participated in the Lake Lanier Association’s 24th Annual Shore Sweep. The day was a great success with volunteers collecting trash along 600 miles of shore from the Lower and Upper Parks at the Dam.
Another opportunity for service was during the Alpharetta Farmers Market which takes place on Saturdays through October 20th from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm. The club partnered with this event to conduct a bake sale to raise funds for Breast Cancer Awareness. There were cakes, brownies, cookies, pies and other delectable delights. The event was a great success, raising just over $300 for breast cancer awareness.
The Alpharetta Rotarians also gathered leftover food items from the Farmer’s Market to take to Dogwood Square, which provides low income housing to the elderly and is a participant of the HUD program. Residents were most appreciative of receiving the fresh produce provided.
“We are proud of our Alpharetta club being the example of “Service above Self” in the community,” said Bill Weeks, President of the Rotary Club of Alpharetta. “The Alpharetta Rotarians are always giving their time, money and energy for the betterment of our community.”
