Heart for Africa Donation Made by Rotary Club of Alpharetta
The Rotary Club of Alpharetta made a $1,000 donation to the Heart for Africa organization in support of their fight against the AIDS pandemic in Swaziland. Heart of Africa is a Christian non-profit public charity. Working alongside supportive organizations and children’s homes in Swaziland, they provide care and hope for a future for children in the small African nation of Swaziland. Through short term service trips, child sponsorship and large fund raising programs, they work to deliver quality care, shelter, food, water, clothing, health care and education to the orphaned and vulnerable children of Swaziland.
Janine Maxwell, Co-Founder of Heart of Africa, works at the El Roi home for abandoned babies. Ms. Maxwell said, “The timing of your donation was very important. There is a huge truck driver strike in South Africa so there is no food or supplies being shipped into Swaziland. We are a land locked country and 95% of all consumables are imported so having your cash available to go and ‘stock up’ was a huge gift so that we don’t run out of diapers or formula if the strike does not end in the weeks or months ahead”.
“We are proud to support Heart of Africa and all the hope and help they provide to these children in Swaziland,” said Bill Weeks, President of Rotary Club of Alpharetta.
