Alpharetta Garden Club Honors One of its Own as Dogwood District Woman of the Year

Bettye Trankina, member of the Alpharetta Garden Club, has been named Dogwood District Woman of the Year 2011.

Over the years she has conducted classes at the Hallie P. Brown Flower Show School, served in several capacities at the Dogwood District's flower show, has written publications describing how to conduct a standard flower show, been a Master Flower Show Judge and currently serves as Chairman of The Garden Club of Georgia. She is also very active and chairs Arboreta and Botanical Gardens.

In March of this year, our Woman of the Year chaired a spectacular Petite Standard Flower Show for the Dogwood District. It was the first show sponsored by the District in several years.

Her accomplishments are many and the title is well deserved.

The Garden Club's next scheduled meeting will be Jan. 24 at the Mansell House, with the program set as “How the Farm to School Program Creates a Life Long Love of Fresh Local Foods.”
